Green Space

The best way to make your house feel like a home is to bring in warmth and texture with greenery.  Sometimes, the one thing missing from your space is a potted plant or terrarium.

You can use any type of plant, but I am partial to succulents.  They have a great texture and color, plus they don’t require very much water so they are hard to kill.   Succulents don’t have very deep roots, so you can use a shallow bowl or terrarium for planting.  My sister gave me this amazing antique urn filled with plants a few years ago, but the plants didn’t make it through the winter, so I am ready to start fresh. Get creative with your planting container. You can use anything from a tea cup to an old tin bucket.

When choosing your plants, try to mix in different textures and colors to make it more appealing to the eye.  If everything in your arrangement is the same shade of green with the same leaf shape it may look a bit boring. (Succulents like this can be found at Home Depot or Lowe’s in the section with the house plants.)

Adding plants to your space is a great way to freshen up your home.  Whether you choose moss, ivy, ferns or succulents, you can’t go wrong with a little green in your space.
